5 tips for training a dog

To live in harmony with your dog, the training and education process is essential.

It’s important to get them used from puppyhood not to repeat bad behaviors, to avoid future trouble and wasting lots of energy that can come with training them as adults.

The biggest risk you run with incorrectly managing your dog’s behavior is sending the puppy mixed and wrong signals.

That’s why we’ve gathered 5 tips for educating your dog

    • Isolation is never the solution!
Our four-legged friends are highly social animals and need to live in company. Shutting them out of the house as punishment can lead to serious emotional problems and relationship issues
    • Don’t reinforce wrong behavior
This can over time make your four-legged friend rebellious and uncooperative. At the same time, be careful not to always say “no” alone, as constant negative interaction can be frustrating. Learn to socialize with your dog and build a positive relationship
    • If they do something wrong, it’s our fault
Learn to interrupt and eventually ignore your dog’s bad behaviors. If they keep repeating the unwanted behavior, it means we’re using the wrong method! Our advice is to act by getting their attention and doing different activities that distract and involve them in play.
    • Use rewards in moderation!
Reward your puppy with treats, petting, or toys, but avoid rewarding every positive behavior; the risk is making your dog dependent on food and treats.
Our advice is to only give snacks when they deserve it, so that rewards have the right value.
    • Daily exercise and play
Do daily exercises with your dog and give them new toys on a regular rotation.
Physical activity and team games help you connect with your puppy and at the same time let them burn off excess energy.

Remember to be consistent and firm in your puppy’s education, never punish them physically and avoid any behaviors that might cause them distress. Our tips are meant to help you build a positive relationship and behavior with your dog. Finally, if you’re facing serious or hard-to-manage behavioral issues, we recommend turning to a trusted professional.
