I 5 motivi che portano il gatto a dormire con noi

The 5 reasons cats sleep with us

Do you also find that someone waits for you or can’t wait to curl up next to you when it’s bedtime?

Yes, cats love resting and sleeping near us in bed, but have you ever wondered why they do this and what are the reasons that lead them to curl up next to us?

We decided to delve deeper into this topic and highlighted the 5 main reasons behind this cat behavior.

1 – Comfort
Kittens are very active and playful, but they definitely love curling up in warm, cozy spots. They’re experts at finding all the softest corners of the house, and our bed is certainly and will always be one of their favorites, thanks to its comfort and warmth.

2 – A safe place
All cats are very aware of their surroundings, always watchful and alert, but sometimes they seek out a place where they feel safe enough to get a deep sleep. This behavior mainly happens when our little friend feels relaxed and protected by our presence.

3 – Protective instinct
Sometimes, though, the situation from the previous point is reversed, and in these cases it’s our cat that rests near us, driven by their protective instinct toward us. This happens both when the kitten feels the need to defend us from something and when they pick up on negative moods and feelings like stress and sadness. In these cases, the cat comes to us showing their strong bond and conveying love and relaxation, even purring.

4 – Seeking warmth
Cats are huge lovers of warm spots, and in winter your bed is definitely the warmest place to hide, where your little friend will want to rest and warm up.

5 – Love and shared space
Since our animal friends are very territorial, it’s not wrong to see sharing the bed as an act of love from our cat, who loves us so much they let us sleep with them.

Felines sleep in company when they are young, still with their mother and littermates, which is exactly why curling up next to us to sleep is a sign of the utmost affection and love. On our part, we can give them a quiet, restful sleep and make them feel safe.
